Studies prove that mentoring does make a difference. Children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs have better attendance, improved grades and better relationships.

Once a child becomes comfortable with their mentor, a relationship is formed and the child begins to open up. Whether it's talking about school, friends, home or life the child has a chance to "download" their concerns to a caring adult allowing them to focus more on their schoolwork. And when a child knows a special friend is coming each week there is a greater desire to do well in order to talk about his or her accomplishments — like great test scores! In just one hour a week you can change the life of a young student which will ultimately affect our entire community.
